About Myself... I am currently an undergraduate student at Florida International University pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry. I am also enrolled in the Honors College while working towards my Global Learning Medallion.
My time is wisely employed studying for classes, working for both FIU and my personal business, attending educational seminars, and volunteering my time, both locally and internationally. My overall goal is always to keep learning and growing to be as well-rounded as possible! I work as both a Learning Assistant and Adjunct Professor in FIU to spread my knowledge and excitement towards certain topics with students which whom I hope appreciate my teaching methods--with such a role, I am also looked up to as a mentor given I genuinely enjoy helping others out and paving the path for them. I also uphold multiple leadership positions within clubs and am an active member in others to give back as much as I possibly can! Although a lot of work, I truly enjoy doing what I do. I can't complain about having a lot on my plate when my goal was to eat. |
Capstone: Synthesized Compounds & their Effect on Mycobacterium smegmatis, resembling TB
Individual Research Performed at FIU Under Dr. Joongho Moon
Tuberculosis is a prominent issue in underdeveloped countries and one of the top leading causes of death. Current treatment consists of an intensive and extensive regimen. This research focuses on the synthesis of monomers and polymers and the compound effect on Mycobacterium smegmatis, a safer model of Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The goal is to optimize the current treatment that targets both active and inactive versions of the bacteria to kill off the infection overall.
